Lord Mayor Dr. Klaus Weichel and Walter Scherer, Business Development Agency visit the PFAFF INDUSTRIAL-facility in Kaiserslautern
On April 20, 2016 Dr. Klaus Weichel, Lord Mayor of Kaiserslautern and Walter Scherer, WFK Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft Stadt und Landkreis Kaiserslautern mbH (business development agency for the city and county of Kaiserslautern) visited the company in the business park Nord at the invitation of the members of the management board of PFAFF Industriesysteme und Maschinen GmbH, Robert Keilmann and Yongwu Chen.
During a tour of the production, the assembly and the showroom as well as the subsequent conversation Dr. Weichel and Mr. Scherer received information on the company’s new focus and strategy. Mr. Keilmann and Mr. Chen explained to the visitors that in the future the company would increasingly concentrate on automation and high tech and that as part of the group’s strategy the segments welding, jeans and shoes would be expanded. „New products from these segments will be presented at industry trade shows in the US, Turkey and Asia in the coming weeks.
Markets where automation in combination with process reliability and increased outputs becomes more and more important,“ stated Robert Keilmann. Dr. Weichel and Mr. Scherer were impressed by the robotic and 3D-sewing technology that is partially manufactured in Kaiserslautern under the KSL-brand. These machines are used to process composites (e. g. in the aerospace industry) or in the automotive industry (airbag, dashboards etc.).
Following the merger of PFAFF Industriesysteme und Maschinen GmbH and KSL Keilmann Sondermaschinenbau GmbH in 2015 the company operates under PFAFF Industriesysteme und Maschinen GmbH; it combines the brands PFAFF INDUSTRIAL and KSL under one umbrella. Mr. Chen and Mr. Keilmann confirmed that with its owner SHANGGONG PFAFF INDUSTRIAL has a strong partner by its side that supports the strategy and orientation of the company without limitations and effectively and focuses on Kaiserslautern as a technology site which is reflected by the increasing number of employees and the continuous search for qualified staff.
