Glass fibre seams for wind power plants
We developed a system for a renowned manufacturer of wind turbines which sews glass fibre material for use in rotor blades. This is a system of superlatives, not only because of its size. The material is extremely demanding too. Glass fibre filaments are very stable in the fibre direction but they are very susceptible to tears and kinks.
A sophisticated method feeds several hundred glass fibre filaments simultaneously to the special needles. The needles are precisely adjusted to the material, both in terms of their shape and the pricking angle. Experience and innovation go hand in hand here.
